About

Having had a life changing case of proximal hamstring tendinopathy for 7 years and most treatments, I thought I was in a good place to share my experiences with people who are trying to overcome PHT.

All injuries and pain are challenging.  However, having read people’s posts on the PHT Facebook page over the years, PHT is definitely high on the list of frustrating and stubborn injuries.  Just when you think you are getting somewhere, you have a set-back.  The position of this injury isn’t helpful either.  How do you sit down and recover?

I started running in my early thirties and found that falling over tree roots and rolling down embankments into brooks, was my thing!  Who’d have thought.

Although I took as much care as I could by strength training, running on grass – whenever it was there, warming up and down, not increasing training volume by 10% a week, PHT caught up with me.

I spent two years not sitting at all and thought my PHT journey would end after successful surgery.

I can’t be sure but I think under eating for the amount of exercise I was doing and supplements had a part to play.

Having a desk job and sitting all day didn’t help either, especially when I moved to a paperless office.

And the final nail, was giving up strength training to work more hours while I continued running.

As you’ve found this site, it’s likely you have a case of PHT, however, I’m hoping your here for prevention.

Just remember, this injury can be fixed, you can return to your sport and living life the way you want to.

Here’s hoping this site helps you along your way to recovery.
